Artesa Winery Launches Elements
CARNEROS (October 15, 2004) - Artesa Winery is proud to release elements, a premium red table wine. Inspired by the dramatic grounds of the art-filled winery itself, elements reflects the contrasts of earth, water, fire, and air to deliver an intriguing blend of predominately red Bordeaux varietals.
Winemaker Don Van Staaveren has blended the best elements from each of the winery's vineyard holdings, which include grapes from Napa Carneros, Foss Valley near Atlas Peak, and Alexander Valley, as well as from its best growers in both the Napa Valley and Sonoma County.
According to Michael Kenton, Artesa's President, "elements was conceived to showcase the diversity of the winery's vineyard resources and its world-class winemaking talent."
The 2001 vintage will be released October 2004. The premium wine consists predominately of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with a small amount of Rhone varietals to add spice and character. The unique blend is aged two years in mostly new French oak barrels. elements will retail for $19.99 per 750 ml bottle.
The graphic design of the label, with its use of gold, silver and copper foils, reflects the artwork on the winery grounds. Since 1997, celebrated artist Gordon Huether has held the position of artist in residence at Artesa, and his dramatic sculptures of abstract vines grace both the entrance to the winery and the labels of all of the Artesa wines.
Artesa Winery, located in the Carneros region of Napa Valley, is owned by Codorníu of Spain. Artesa, which means "craftsman" in the Catalan language, celebrated its inaugural release of 8,000 cases in 1999. Since then, Artesa has capitalized on its vineyard holdings and state-of-the-art winemaking equipment to build its critically acclaimed reputation in just five years.
Artesa is marketed nationally by W.J. Deutsch and Sons, Ltd.
