Artesa Winery Launches Estate Wines

CARNEROS (August 11, 2005) - Artesa Winery is pleased to introduce their Estate Chardonnay 2003 and Estate Pinot Noir 2003. The result of the winery's extensive plantings on their Napa Carneros property in the late 90's have come to fruition, and are now deliciously ready to drink.

The Artesa Estate Chardonnay 2003 boasts a variety of fruit flavors including lemon, honeydew melon, kiwi and apricot as a result of the blend of several Dijon and special field selection clones. The wine has been aged in French oak, 50% of it new, for 14 months to be well balanced and multi-layered with vanilla, oak smoke, caramel and hints of spice that evolve in the glass. A gentle tingle of acid steadies this Chardonnay's silky texture and creamy fullness. The suggested retail price is $30.00.

The Artesa Estate Pinot Noir Carneros 2003 bursts with bright cherry and raspberry aromas, and hints of cinnamon, roasting coffee, pipe tobacco, chocolate and cedar. As with the Chardonnay, this wine has also spent 14 months in French oak, 50% of which is new. Exceptional mid-palate weight and a silky finish demand another pour. The suggested retail price is $40.00.

Head winemaker for Artesa, Dave Dobson, said, "A cool wet May could have made this a difficult vintage, yet the weight and intensity of these Estate wines is a testament to the excellence of our vineyards."

"We are individually selecting cluster from our best low-yielding, carefully-tended vines for the wines from our Estate vineyards," continued Mike Kenton, president of Artesa. "Dave Dobson and his winemaking team have specially chosen French oak cooperage to produce small lots of our finest wines."

Artesa Winery, located in the Carneros region of Napa Valley, is owned by Codorníu of Spain. Artesa, which means "craftsman" in the Catalan language, celebrated its inaugural release of 8,000 cases in 1999. Since then, Artesa has capitalized on its vineyard holdings and state-of-the-art winemaking equipment to build its critically acclaimed reputation in just six years.

Artesa Wines are marketed nationally by W.J. Deutsch & Sons, Ltd., White Plains, NY.
