2002 Carneros Pinot Blanc
2005 Carneros Pinot Blanc

Our Pinot Blanc vineyard is on the southeastern slope of Mount Artesa. The vineyards required some careful morning side leaf removal and irrigation management to insure enough “hang time” to get even and complete berry ripening. Too few leaves on the vine do not generate enough energy for world-class flavors and the berries may become sun burned. Too many leaves and the berries end up shaded and not as fruity. The temperate application of irrigation water maintained a healthy canopy of leaves that thrive all season.

Winemaking
Following hand harvesting, the grapes were whole cluster pressed using a gentle sparkling wine process. This wine was barrel fermented in 25% new French Oak and two-thirds of it was allowed to go through malolactic fermentation. The lees were stirred for two months and the wine aged for six months before being pulled from barrel for blending, stabilization and bottling.

Tasting Notes
Apple blossoms dominates the nose. Hints of butter, vanilla and caramel add depth to the nose. By mouth, our Pinot Blanc has clean apple with notes of peach and kiwi. Gently nuanced oak, butter and creaminess integrate seamlessly into the finish.

Alcohol content, 14.5% by volume.
